FAQ

Is there a deposit and/or cancellation fee?

A $250 deposit will be charged to participants upon registering online. Because each Lenses Institute is comprised of a small cohort of leaders, and numbers matter significantly, if you must cancel but are able to find another person to fill your spot, your deposit will be refunded. If you are unable find a replacement, your deposit will not be refunded. Emergencies affecting attendance will be taken into consideration. Non-emergency cancellations within ten days of the start of an Institute with no replacement attendee will be charged the full cost of the Institute.

Can I bring my child? Is childcare provided?

We do not provide childcare. The Lenses Institute employs a learning environment and schedule suitable for adults only.

What information will I receive after I register?

You will receive an email welcoming you and confirming your registration for your particular Lenses Institute. Included in this email will be important information to prepare you for the Institute.

Who is leading the Institutes?

Each Institute is hosted and facilitated by a number of partners inside and outside of Cru who serve with the Lenses Group. Our local partners, unique to each Institute location, are seasoned and accomplished women and men representing a number of professions; from an array of ethnicities, cultures, and generations. Their expertise, leadership, and service are essential to the success of each Institute.

What should I expect?

You can expect to be cared for and encouraged as a person, minister, leader, and citizen. You can expect to be encouraged and challenged to embrace an intentional growth process. You can expect to see things you may have not have seen before, understand things you may not have understood before, and be equipped and encouraged to act in ways you may have never acted before. You can expect to see culture and ethnicity with new lenses. You can expect to experience all of this together in community.

Am I allowed to visit a friend, family member, etc. during the Institute?

Each cohort member is expected to participate in the entirety of the Institute. For your own benefit, and that of your cohort, please plan to be fully present for the five days we are together. There will be no time for other meetings or events during the week. The schedule is one for the entire day with programming into the evening. Learning in community is a distinctive value and necessity for the Lenses Institute.

I LIVE NEAR ONE OF THE LENSES INSTITUTE LOCATIONS. TO SAVE MONEY, COULD I COMMUTE BETWEEN HOME AND THE INSTITUTE?

The Lenses Institute is a residential learning experience. Commuting is not an option.
